Re-branding?

Josh Chrysler, Folklorist and Health & Wellness Specialist with Wyoming Arts Council and Toddi Darlington, chair of the Big Horn Basin Folk Festival and secretary of the Nature & Discovery Center Joint Powers Board pose in front of the Hole in the Wall Bar at the Hot Springs County Museum & Cultural Center. Josh was in town meeting with Jacky Dorothy of Legend Rock Media and Toddi about re-branding the Folk Festival to allow for growth of the state recognized event. The new Wyoming Discovery Days will be held August 1 & 2, 2020 in Hot Springs State Park as part of the Gift of the Waters Pageant Weekend.

Discovery in action

Members of the Children’s Outdoor Learning Area committee, the Outdoor Alliance, Smoking Waters Art Guild and friends and family showed up on Saturday, September 26th for a work day at the Children’s Outdoor Learning Area located at the entrance to Hot Springs State Park. Members worked on the Old Rio Disc Golf course, while others installed the last of the learning equipment at the children’s learning area. The site now includes a weaving station, music stations, four art stations and a sandbox. Wood chips will be laid in the spring to complete this phase of the multi-phase project.

Plans are in the works to place a larger ice skating rink on the property. The increased size of 100’ x 100’ will provide hours of ice skating fun and hockey practices during our winter months.

The site is open to the public and all are invited to come to learn and play. The project is spear-headed by the Big Horn Basin Nature & Discovery Center Joint Powers Board with help from many organizations, grantors, and individuals. Donations are always welcome and can be made by mailing a check or money order to BHBDNC, PO Box 528, Thermopolis, WY 82443
